Barrier has become a focus of attention in the recent dynamic demand of food packaging, which requires more natural ingredients, longer shelf-life, transparency, and stability against thermal effects of sterilization, and mechanical resistance against aggressive ingredients. Evolution of film production equipment and process engineering has made it possible for many film producers to supply barrier-coated PET films of a certain quality level. But when it comes to ultra-high barrier for retort, there are still only a handful of manufacturers.
Toray Advanced Film Co., Ltd. (TAF) recognized as a pioneer in retort packaging films, launched Barrialox® SBR2 in October 2014 with firm confidence on its durability and barrier integrity. “Japan is certainly the most demanding market for barrier PET films, and this has led to advancement of many technologies in this field there” says TFE Sales Director Mr. Poussineau, “Until now, it was said, what is demanded in Japan is also good for markets outside Japan. SBR2, however, was designed to meet more stringent demand of robustness for the converting and food packaging environment outside Japan. „ The company is well-known about its majority market share in Japan for the retort CPP film and has been producing barrier PET films mainly for domestic market. Today it recognizes their products to be adapted to the world standards.
