⚡ Enabling Printed Electronics with Functional PET Films ⚡

On May 27, Toray Films Europe participated in a webinar organized by the PRINT’UP Institute on the technical specificities of films for printed electronics. The event gathered 38 professionals from across the printed electronics ecosystem, reflecting growing interest in innovative and sustainable substrate solutions.

Dr. Lucile Gambut-Garel, Innovation Manager at Toray Films Europe, presented how Lumirror™ PET Film technologies can support the performance, reliability, and sustainability of printed electronic applications.

Printed electronics require substrates that combine dimensional stability, printability, flexibility, durability, and excellent surface properties. Toray’s Lumirror™ BOPET films meet these demanding requirements by combining high performance with customization options.

Demonstrated Performance for Printed Electronics

One of the highlights of the webinar was the presentation of application trials conducted in collaboration with the PRINT’UP Institute.Tests performed using screen-printing processes with carbon, silver, and PEDOT: PSS inks demonstrated: Excellent ink adhesion | High conductivity levels | Surface characteristics impacting electronic performance.
 
Among the evaluated materials, Toray’s Lumirror™ 40.60 grade achieved particularly strong conductivity results, illustrating how film engineering can directly contribute to the performance of printed electronic devices.
